Highly-Trained Veterinarians
SODO Veterinary Hospital pride ourselves in offering not only high-quality care for your lovely pets, but also in providing a highly-trained team of veterinary professionals.
Juan Patino, D.V.M.
Dr. Patino graduated from the Facultdad de Medicina Veterinaria, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota, in 1983. Soon after graduation, through the encouragement and support of his family, Dr. Patino relocated to the United States to officially launch his professional career. Driven by hard work, sacrifice, and responsibility, Dr. Patino bought and took ownership of Kirkpatrick Veterinary Hospital, PA in 1998. Since then, he and his team have striven to provide the highest quality of veterinary medicine. He has accomplished this quality by maintaining the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation during his ownership. AAHA evaluates practices from customer service, to maintain the most advanced and current protocols for any case presented. Dr. Patino has a knack for honoring and respecting the unwavering bond between family pets and their owners. An example is how close he has been with his personal pets, which you can find working with him every day. Clients loved his original assistant, “Pibe”, who was his silk Yorkshire terrier that wandered the halls behind him.
Currently, you’ll meet, “Pacho”, a rescued Shih Tzu that has carried on the tradition of being his assistant in all exam rooms. The success of his long-spanned career of over 35 years lies in his passion for animal welfare, combined with his special ability to establish lifetime relationships with his clients and their animal companions throughout the years. Dr. Patino has used his knowledge, experience, and foresight to concentrate and develop a special interest in areas of his profession such as Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Dermatology, soft tissue surgery, and the constant and proactive early detection and prevention of diseases. Dr. Patino’s dream was always to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of our beautiful community in the SODO district. The transition to our new hospital is to cement his dream and anchor our hospital for our community for generations to come. SODO Veterinary Hospital is a project that came to fruition through many years of preparation. His family practice hopes to continue its devotion to the community with the same standard that everyone is acclimated to. Thanks to his exceptionally loyal clientele, his team of professionals, and his commitment to high-quality veterinary medicine, Dr. Patino has positioned his name, and his AAHA accredited practice, SODO Veterinary Hospital, as one of the most respected in Central Florida.
Jose Ortiz Bouyett, D.V.M.
Dr. Jose Ortiz Bouyett joined the SODO Veterinary family at the end of 2021. He graduated from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña Facultad de Med. Vet, RD 2017. He also has his Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care Management. Born in Puerto Rico, Dr. Ortiz has much pride and love for his island. He has sacrificed his whole life to veterinary medicine, which has helped add to his desire of volunteer work in other foreign countries and their communities. His special interests are to continue to build his skill in surgery and emergency care. Dr. Ortiz is adamant in providing the best medicine and service, which makes him such a great compliment to the SODO culture.
Stephanie Quijano
Dr. Stephanie Quijano has been part of our team since 2006. Born in Houston, she grew up in Orlando where she studied locally at Lake Brantley High School and studied Microbiology and Molecular Biology at UCF. She then continued her education by graduating with a veterinary degree from the University of Environmental and Applied Sciences in Bogota, Colombia. She is currently acquiring her license, however, her being a veterinarian brings tremendous value to our stellar team. Dr. Quijano has a daughter and son, and a shih tzu named Tango. She enjoys being outdoors with the family and has found her new love of gardening. She believes in Maya Angelou’s quote that “success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”
Fernando Patino, Hospital Director
Many of the SODO Veterinary community have met Fernando and know his importance to the hospital. He grew up volunteering and learning the veterinary business from a young age, while officially joining the team in 2006. Fernando studied at Florida State University and earned his bachelor’s in Business Administration. These skills have helped him grow personally and along the business all these years. Holding many positions at the hospital has groomed him to be a rather unorthodox hospital director. Fernando cares about his team on a personal level, which he believes contributes to the respectful morale we all share at SODO Veterinary. SODO’s working team is indeed a family, and the culture that’s been produced shows in the way care and service is provided to our community. Fernando has a passion for being there to assist the needs of his fellow co-workers, family, and friends. He loves both dogs and cats equally but is a proud owner of his tortoiseshell, Luna. His ultimate goal is to give a unique and memorable experience by providing exceptional customer service, through his team that loves one another and what they do.
Dave, Client Service Specialist
“SODO Veterinary Hospital, this is Dave” Sound familiar? Dave is the friendly voice you most likely hear when calling our hospital. He joined our team in the summer of 2017 and has acclimated himself quite well. He had not been in this industry before, yet his work ethic and attention to detail makes him a great team member. He was born, raised, and schooled in Maryland. He earned his Associate Degree in General Studies, and proudly brags about his master’s degree in Street Smarts and Life Studies. He’s been in Florida for 19 years, and Chicago for a year. He admits that he misses seeing the change of seasons and the snow. You will always catch Dave speaking of his three “children” Jazz, Ninja, and Sunny. He loves them so much that they inspired him to make custom-made cat scratching posts. You are welcomed to check out “Our Dad’s Cat Shop” on Facebook for more info. His hobbies include horseback riding, swimming, air hockey, board and video games, walks, singing, dancing, and entertaining people. Ambitions of his life are to always dream big, don’t listen when others tell you, you can’t do something. Opportunity only knocks once, so take every opportunity that you can. We only live once, why not write an exciting chapter in the Book of Life.
Victor, CLIENT SERVICE SPECIALIST
Victor has been working for Dr. Patino on and off again since the year 2000. Many from the community will be pleased to learn that he is back with the SODO family once again. He graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. There he quickly found out that he thrives in attention to detail, and the importance of discipline and setting protocols. He enjoys the fine arts and reading non-fiction in his spare time. Victor is passionate about animal welfare, which is why he is such a great fit and asset to our team. Victor believes that service can be provided by anyone, but satisfaction can be achieved by few.
Sharon, Head Veterinary Nurse
Sharon is our hospital’s lead nurse. It’s always a blessing when you find a perfect mix of personality and technical experience in this field. She joined our team in the winter of 2018 and has flourished ever since. Sharon was born in Orlando yet raised in Puerto Rico. Soon after completing high school, she moved to Florida to continue her education. Sharon attended and graduated from the Florida Institute of Technical Arts in 2013. Massachusetts is where she enjoys spending time with relatives and where she also gained many of her dental techniques in this field. We are happy to have such a hard-working mother where she has been able to juggle many responsibilities. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her kids Destiny and Daniel, and their feline siblings named Auna and Dallas. Sharon often enjoy playing board games, continuing education, the beach, traveling, and of course spending time with her children.
Megan, Veterinary Nurse
Megan is our newest member to join our team. Earlier this spring 2020, she joined to help us during our transition from our hold home to our new. A Florida native, she grew up in Palm Bay. Megan adds to our team by showcasing over 5 years of experience in this field. She wears a couple hats as you may find her helping out by greeting you through our doors or working on your loved ones in the treatment area. She enjoys baking, taking care of her three cats Obi, Ronin, and Leela, and of course her little dog Skye.
STEPHANIE B., VETERINARY NURSE
Stephanie has been working with us since early Spring 2019. She had recently graduated from UCF the year before and came in looking for a kennel assistant position. Through her hard work and dedication, she earned the opportunity to advance her skills and has been one of our main veterinary nurses. Her aspirations are to be a veterinarian one day where she may continue to grow professionally. Stephanie’s many hobbies include crafting and reading. She owns a cat she named Leopold and her favorite animal is the wolf.
KRYS, BOARDING COORDINATOR
Krys is our beloved Boarding Coordinator as well as one of our veterinary nurses. Krys has a long history with our family as she started volunteering at Kirkpatrick Veterinary Hospital at 11 years old. She shadowed her mother Connie and became an official employee after her high school graduation. She is a true animal advocate that enjoys learning more about all animals, always. Throughout her life, she’s had her fair share of fur and non-furred babies which include dogs, cats, rats, turtles, scorpions, and a raccoon to name a few. Krys lives by the duty that she is there to take care of your family members and to make sure that you have the knowledge to give them a long and healthy life. Being our longest-tenured employee, Krys is the true example of loyalty and hard work. We are blessed to have had her all these years and look forward to our future with her!
Zuann R., Boarding Assistant
Zuann is one of our first new hires since we moved into SODO Veterinary Hospital. She started out as an intern and grew to fit in with our culture almost immediately. Born in Puerto Rico, she comes with many talents including playing the saxophone and the flute. She prides herself on being very family-oriented and enjoys drawing in her spare time. Her personality and kind laugh really add life to our already spirited work family. She is passionate about all that she does and feels at home now that her childhood dream to work at a veterinary hospital has become a reality. Zuann is always in a positive mood, and it shows with her eagerness to try out many new hairstyles!!!
Sherly, Boarding Assistant
Sherly came to us during her internship at Southern Tech. She quickly merged into our culture and has become our latest asset to our team. Sherly was born in Miami and enjoys taking her dogs Dior and Luna, to the dog park. Many may not know that she can play the flute, which adds to our talented team of musicians. Sherly is driven by goals, where she hopes to be a nurse and own her own hospital or shelter one day.
Danielle Coqueran
Danielle joined us after showing a powerful desire and work ethic via her internship earlier this year. She has wanted to be a veterinarian ever since she was little, and it shows with her affection to the patients. Her hobbies include playing sports, video games, drawing, and listening to music. She owns a 16-year-old Alaskan miniature poodle named Chibi, which is Japanese for “small”. Danielle admits she is shy, yet we have been blessed to see her goofy side now that she is comfortable and part of the family. Danielle loves to care for all the pets she sees, and she aspires to make people happy and laugh.
Lizbeth Rodriguez
Liz is our newest client service specialist. She continues our trend here given that she has loved animals all her life. She owns two dogs, a little chihuahua and a Shiba Inu which she loves, dearly. She prides herself on being very enthusiastic and hard-working with her tasks and goals. A personal hobby of hers is photography, especially in nature. Liz often seeks the chance to take road trips that explore unfamiliar places. This gives her the chance to learn about these new sites and locations. She seeks to constantly expand her knowledge at work and in life. Liz is bilingual in English and Spanish which helps with her desire to help our clientele.
Ninoshka Dominicci
Ninoshka is another one of our prized team members. She started with us when we were Kirkpatrick back in 2015, she then went on to grow her family, and returned to us this year. Born in Bayomon, Puerto Rico, she quickly grew her love for animals. In fact, she owns a dog named Marshall and a cat named Buff Daddy. Nino, as we call her, loves to spend all her free time with her family. This trait is evident in how she treats everyone she works with, and all our clients. She thoroughly is enamored with being a veterinary nurse, and we couldn’t be happier to have her here at SODO.
Gabriel Nieves
Gabriel is one of our newest team members. He was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Massachusetts. He currently owns one cat named, Tibilin. His love for animals made him begin his career in a veterinary setting back in 2019. His experiences made him realize that he’d like to expand working with more animals outside of just domesticated dogs and cats. Gabriel has a strong passion for business and recording arts too. Keep your ears open, you might just hear him on the radio one day!
